Some MotiveWave users may want to connect multiple trading platforms to their Rithmic account. In order to avoid paying multiple platform fees you can use Rithmic R|Trader Pro to feed data to your trading platforms (including MotiveWave). Here are the instructions:
Step 1: Download and Install MotiveWave
Visit the MotiveWave Website
Open your browser and go to the official MotiveWave website.Choose Your Edition
MotiveWave offers several editions:Free Trial: Test the platform's core features.
Standard Edition: Basic charting and trading features.
Professional Edition: Advanced tools and charting options.
Download MotiveWave
Click the download button on the website and select your operating system (Windows, Mac, or Linux).Install MotiveWave
Once the download is complete, install MotiveWave by following the on-screen instructions. After installation, launch the application.
Step 2: Initial Setup
Sign Up / Log In
Create an Account: If you're new, sign up with your email and create a password.
Log In: Use your credentials if you already have an account.
Connect to a Broker
MotiveWave supports several brokers, including Rithmic.
Navigate to the Connections tab in the main menu, choose your broker, and enter your login details.
Step 3: Connecting MotiveWave to Rithmic
Prepare R|Trader Pro
If you want to use Rithmic data for multiple platforms like MotiveWave, connect to R|Trader Pro (not the regular R|Trader). Make sure the Allow Plug-ins option is enabled, which should show as yellow in color.Log into R|Trader Pro
Sign both mandatory agreements when logging in.
Select NON-PROFESSIONAL as your user type.
Under the system settings, choose DayTraders.com (not Rithmic Paper Trading).
Make sure to enable Level 2 data/market depth to gain full market insights.
Connect MotiveWave to Rithmic
In MotiveWave, go to the Market Data dropdown menu and select R|Trader Gateway.
R|Trader Pro will now feed data to MotiveWave, and you can connect other trading platforms to R|Trader Pro as needed.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter connection issues, contact MotiveWave support. Note that some brokers, like Day Traders, offer limited support for platforms.
Step 4: Workspace and Chart Setup
Configure Your Workspace
MotiveWave allows you to create and customize workspaces for different asset classes:Click File > New Workspace to create a workspace.
Add chart panels, watchlists, and other tools by selecting Window > Add Panel.
Set Up Charts
Open a new chart by selecting New > Chart from the main menu.
Choose the instrument or asset you want to chart from your broker’s data list.
Customize your chart by adjusting chart types, timeframes, and adding indicators such as RSI, MACD, or moving averages. You can also save chart templates for future use by selecting File > Save Chart Template.
Step 5: Placing Your First Trade
Open the Trade Panel
To place a trade, access the trade panel by clicking the Trade button or navigating to New > Order Ticket. Choose the order type (Market, Limit, Stop) and enter your trade details.Place a Market Order
Select the instrument to trade and enter the quantity.
Click Buy Market or Sell Market to execute at the current price.
Place a Limit or Stop Order
Choose Limit Order or Stop Order, enter the price, and submit the order.
Monitor Your Positions
Track your trades in the Positions panel. To close a position, click Close Position. You can also modify stop-loss or take-profit orders by right-clicking on your open position.
