This guide combines two key aspects of using Quantower with Rithmic: how to connect Quantower to Rithmic and how to set up the platform, from downloading it to placing your first trade. Follow these steps for a smooth and efficient experience.
Step 1: Download and Install Quantower
Visit the Quantower Website
Open your browser and go to the official Quantower website.Choose Your Edition
Quantower offers different versions, including:Free: Basic features for standard trading needs.
Paid Versions: Access to advanced tools and charting features.
Download Quantower
Click on the Download button and choose your operating system (Windows or Mac). The download will begin automatically.Install Quantower
Once downloaded, open the installer file and follow the prompts to install Quantower. After the installation is complete, launch the platform.
Step 2: Initial Setup
Sign Up / Log In
Create an Account: If you're new to Quantower, sign up by providing your email address and setting a password.
Log In: Use your credentials if you already have an account.
Connect to a Broker or Data Provider
Quantower supports a variety of brokers and data providers, including Rithmic.Click on the Connections tab in the upper left corner.
Select your broker or data provider from the list (e.g., CQG, Rithmic, Binance).
Enter your login credentials provided by your broker or data provider, and click Connect to establish the connection.
Step 3: Connecting Quantower to Rithmic
Before proceeding, ensure you are using at least version 1.126.13 of Quantower.
Connection Types
Quantower can connect to Rithmic in two ways:Direct Connection: This allows one platform to be connected without using RTrader Pro.
RTrader Pro Plugin Mode: Use this mode to connect multiple platforms simultaneously through RTrader Pro.
RTrader Pro Setup
Launch RTrader Pro, sign in, and ensure the Allow Plugins option is enabled.
Make sure to accept the mandatory agreements: Market Data Subscription Agreement and Market Data Self-Certification.
If your account was created recently, wait up to an hour for activation. Log in to RTrader Pro to verify that your account is active.
Troubleshooting Common Errors
Login Server Mismatch: If your login doesn’t work, feel free to contact us.
Previously Connected via Plugin: If you’ve connected through RTrader Plugin before and are experiencing issues, either re-enable the Plugin mode or try connecting directly by disabling the Use RTrader option in Quantower settings.
Multiple Logins on Different Platforms: You cannot use the same login on more than one platform at a time without RTrader Plugin Mode.
Server Unavailable: If you can’t connect to Rithmic, especially during weekends, it may be a server issue. Try again on Sunday evening. If the issue persists, contact your broker or Rithmic support.
Level 2 Data Issues
If you are missing Level 2 data, you may not have subscribed to it. Check the Order Book panel in RTrader Pro. If Bid/Ask values are missing, contact Rithmic support to subscribe to Level 2 data.
Step 4: Configuring Your Workspace
Quantower provides customizable workspaces based on asset types.
Select a Workspace Template
Click on the Workspace button and choose the pre-built template for Futures. Or you can also create your own layout. (Keep in mind that we only offer Futures Trading)Add Widgets
Add chart panels, depth of market (DOM), and other tools by clicking on the + button and selecting the desired widgets.Arrange Your Workspace
Drag and drop widgets to organize your workspace to fit your trading style.
Step 5: Getting Started with Charts
Open a Chart
Click the + icon and select Chart from the menu. Choose the asset you want to trade by searching for the instrument or selecting it from your broker’s list.Customize the Chart
Select different chart types (Candlestick, Bar, Line, etc.) and timeframes (1 min, 5 min, 1 hour, etc.).
Right-click on the chart to add indicators such as RSI, MACD, or Bollinger Bands.
Step 6: Placing Your First Trade
Open the DOM (Depth of Market)
To place a trade, click on the + icon and choose DOM Trader. The DOM shows current buy and sell orders at different price levels.Place a Market Order
Select the asset in the DOM Trader window and click Buy Market or Sell Market to place a market order at the current price.Place a Limit or Stop Order
Click on the price level in the DOM to place a Limit Order. For a Stop Order, right-click the price level and confirm the order in the pop-up window.Monitor and Manage Trades
Open the Positions & Orders window to track active trades. Close positions or modify stop-loss/take-profit levels from this panel.
Step 7: Practice with a Demo Account (Optional)
Connect to a Demo Broker
Follow the connection steps from earlier but select a broker that offers demo accounts (e.g., Rithmic Demo, CQG Demo).Simulate Trades
Practice placing trades and testing strategies without risking real money. You can also use Quantower’s Backtesting feature to test strategies with historical data.
