You can trade up to 23 hours a day, from 6 PM one day to 4:59 PM the next day ET. Just stick to your usual strategy, and avoid news-directional or multi-directional strategies.
To check which instruments are available:
For RTrader: Log into RTrader, right-click on your account name, and select "View Risk Parameters" to see the list of products active for your account.
If you attempt to place an order on an instrument that’s not allowed, your trade will simply be rejected—no penalty.
