Major global events can cause heightened market volatility, leading to increased traffic rates from futures exchanges. Here's how to keep your trading screens running efficiently during these times:
Tips to Manage Volatility:
Minimize Subscribed Instruments: Reduce the number of instruments you're tracking to lessen data load.
Reduce Visible Windows: Close unnecessary windows to optimize computer performance.
For R | Trader™ and R | Trader Pro™ Users:
Check the Update Time: Ensure the time displayed in the Quote Board matches your computer's clock. If it's lagging, your data might be delayed.
Slow Computer Warning: If you see a yellow light or hear a “Slow Computer” alarm, reduce data load by following these steps:
Subscribe to Aggregated Quotes at the login screen by clicking the Aggregated Quotes link.
Adjust Update Rates: Go to the Window menu, click Preferences, navigate to the Performance tab, and adjust the slider from 10 to 4.
Closing Trades During Volatility: If you’re unable to close a trade on your platform, head to RTrader Pro:
Go to File > Positions and click the red "X" to close your trade.
